Sailing Stories » EMYR Updates » Ko-Ko 18th May

Ko-Ko is a Najad 570 that was built in Najadvarvet, Orust 2009.

We left Orust in beginning of August 2009 and arrived in Kemer, Türkey end of October 2009.

We left the boat in Kemer Türkiz Marina for the winter and we have been back several times to look after it during the last 6 months. Kemer Türkiz Marina is a very good marina for "liveaboards".

It has a lot of social things, sports and cultural happenings going on during the winter season. You can have all sorts of preparations done  and the people in the marina are very helpful and friendly.

The last few days we have been very busy getting Ko-Ko ready for EMYR.

Yesterday we celebrated the Norwegian National Day, 17th May.  We had brought norwegian food and we had a nice lunch with all the Norwegians in the harbour.

Today, 18th of May,  53 boats in the EMYR will arrive in Kemer Türkiz Marina from Finike and 8 "new boats" will join the race here in Kemer. We will depart for Alanya on Thursday and we are looking forward to getting started!

This is the start for a long sailing season for us. EMYR will go on to the end of June and after that we will sail all the way through the Mediterranean to Gibraltar. After that we will cross over to Madeira and to the Canary Islands to join the ARC2010!
